Myelodysplastic Syndrome Complicated with Leukemia Cutis

چکیده
We herein presented a 50-year-old female of myelodysplastic syndrome sub-typing refractory anemia with excess blasts. She had received conservative and immunosuppressive therapies, but not controlled well. One year later, multiple asymptomatic, erythematous papules, plaques and nodules developed over trunk and four limbs. The histopathological and immunohistochemical studies showed atypical mononuclear cells infiltrate positively stained with CD45 and myeloperoxidase in the whole dermis, indicating the diagnosis of leukemia cutis. Then, the bone marrow biopsy was suggested and acute myeloid leukemia was diagnosed. In spite of vigorous chemotherapy, the patient died of intracerebral hemorrhage in one week. Myeloid Cell Leukemia-1 Gene Expression and Clinicopathological Features in Myelodysplastic Syndrome
Background and Aims: Myeloid cell leukemia-1 (Mcl-1) plays a pivotal role in the survival of hematologic and solid tumors, and is known as a substantial oncogene. Studies have demonstrated the altered expression of Mcl-1 has been linked to malignancy development and poor prognosis. In this research, we have studied the expression of Mcl-1 mRNA in myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients and det...

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell disease characterized by cytopenia, dysplasia in one or more of the major myeloid cell lines, ineffective hematopoiesis, and increased risk of development of acute myeloid leukemia [1]. The majority of patients with MDS present with symptoms related to cytopenia [1]. However, cutaneous manifestations have also been reported in p...

Acute monoblastic leukemia (acute myeloid leukemia [AML], French-American-British type M5a) with leukemia cutis developed in a patient 6 weeks after the initiation of erythropoietin (EPO) therapy for refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts. AML disappeared from both marrow and skin after the discontinuation of EPO. Multiparameter flow cytometric analysis of bone marrow cells demonstrated coe...

Myeloid leukemia cutis (LC) is the cutaneous involvement by neoplastic leukocytes of the myeloid series. Myeloid LC may occur de novo or concurrently with acute myeloid leukemias, chronic myeloid leukemias, other myeloproliferative disorders or myelodysplastic syndromes. We describe an unusual case of cytophagic S-100 protein immunoreactive leukemia cutis presenting in an 87-year-old woman with...
